Located on the northern inlet of Grand Cayman Island, the Links at Safehaven is set on one of the most gorgeous pieces of land in all of the Caribbean. Opened in 1994, The Links is celebratingits tenth anniversary this year.
Director of Golf Bob Cooke says the beautiful scenery mixed with a challenging layout (75.1slope rating) keeps its guests coming back.
"Golfers at The Links at SafeHaven are always looking forward to their next round at ourcourse," says Cooke. "The scenery is beautiful, the course is challenging, but playable and ourservice is excellent."
Challenging indeed. Don't let the course yardage at just over 6,500 yards fool you. The islandclimate, mixed with wind makes the course resemble a layout closer to 7,000 yards. The fairwaysprovide generous landing zones, usually around 70 yards wide. The greens are also monstrous, averaging 5,000 square feet.
Cooke describes the rest of the layout.
"The course is a Roy Case design, snuggled up against the North Sound, a beautiful inlet ofcrystal clear Caribbean Sea," recalls Cooke. "The course is reminiscent of the undulating Scottishmoors giving credence to the Links name. The property has been left as natural as possible, withwide-open spaces and heather-like grasses that are home to many indigenous flora and fauna, including our resident iguanas."
Amenities on site at the Links at Safehaven include an open-air bar, practice facilitiesincluding an aqua driving range, short game greens with bunker areas and a full service pro shop. Afull service food and beverage cart is always on the course, complete with sandwiches, snacks anddrinks.
Another plus to the Links at Safehaven is its temperate Caribbean climate. It's never too hot ortoo cold to enjoy the outdoors, with seasonal averages between 72 and 92 degrees.
Specials rates and packages are available through many other resorts including the Grand CaymanMarriott, Sunshine Suites by Wyndham,Westin Casuarina Resort, The Grand Caymanian, Coral SandsResort, Reef Resort and the Ritz Cayman, which is scheduled to open late in 2004.
