The golf course at the Abaco Club on Winding Bay was the first Scottish links-style course in a tropical location. The Scottish designer of the course saw the perfect place for a classic links-style course in the low-laying, unsheltered sand of Winding Bay. The sandy beach, reefs, and bluffs were easily adapted to a links style but the lush vegetation of the Bahamas added a unique element. Fourteen holes play along sand dunes beside the beach offering tranquil views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Abaco Club on Winding Bay has several notable holes, including one that overlooks a coral reef and another that is well bunkered and finishes on a windy, elevated green.
