Port Royal Golf Course

The course is preparing for the PGA Bermuda Championship, so the course condition was very good. There was no wind and the day was perfect to play an enjoyable round. The staff is always friendly and restaurant is always good. We had a perfect day for golf.

If you want a wonderful experience on simply a gorgeous golf course surrounded by the most amazing vistas then Port Royal is the place and, in October you can witness the very best from the PGA try to conquer it.

I read some views which were mixed about this course and I don’t understand what they were talking about. Tee boxes, greens and fairways in great condition. The course itself is interesting with some challenges due to undulations and shots around corners.

I have been coming to Bermuda every August since I was a kid and Port Royal is always a favorite. The course is challenging but fun. If it's windy it can be a real brute but you have to accept the challenge. Staff is also great and they take care of me and remember me every year.

This used to be an incredible golf course but when they did the renovation they absolutely ruined it. Way too many fairway bunkers for the average amateur (and I’m a 5 handicap).. It used to have a very unique Bermuda style with the bunkering and now it looks like a course out of Orlando. They just aerated the greens and are still charging full fees which they should be ashamed of. The cups were even furry and it didn’t look like the pins have been changed in a week.
I would spend my money at Belmont Hills down the road. It’s a shorter course which is kind of quirky but it’s much more fun. Port Royal is resting on their reputation as a PGA tour stop and that will end very soon when that contract is up.

Got to get out at a great time, a couple let us play through, and we had a great pace for the round. Unexpected. The layout is so spectacular and scenic. Conditions were great. They had just punched the greens but they still rolled fine.

There is a reason they play a PGA tour event here!

I love the place. I am staying nearby in a hotel, and this is my first long term stay ( 2 weeks ) in Bermuda.
Played almost every day since I arrived. Very friendly atmosphere at ProShop, with caddy master, played several rounds with other people including a former female board member of the course, everyone is very friendly and I like this .
The golf course is very nice, there is a lot of wind , too when it is hot, but some of the holes are relatively narrow ( 5th and 10 th on the left side and your draw may end up out of bounds with headwind ).
7 a long par 5 into the wind and 8 th a long par 3 200 yards facing the sea and into the wind are memorable.
The back nine are even more interesting, specially the 11th a par 4 going massively downhill for the second shot, 13 th a long 210 yards par 3 again into the wind, 14th a tricky par 4 where unless you landed in the right side of fairway you will need to shape your second shot around the trees. 15 is in my view the nicest hole, a long par 4 along the sea, with lot of bunkers waiting for your driving shot. 16 th is the most well known par 3, i played it from the white (165 yards) and tough enough . From the back black at 215 yards with the wind, it is so narrow and so little room for error , I guess only PGA pro can take it with reasonable to find their ball. 18 th is a little bit boring par 4 going uphill towards the clubhouse, but the idea of a good drink at the restaurant ( fantastic food) overlooking the course and the coastal line make you forgive this!
A lovely place with lovely people, would not mind playing there every day!

Sand and more sand. A bit pricey though. Still, I would recommend it as is a beautiful course. Warning! Bring bug spray as gnats are an issue.
