The course at the Sandals Golf & Country Club, formerly the Upton Golf Club, provides a formidable test for even the most skilled golfers. The 18-hole golf course stretches out over heavily undulating terrain that is covered in dense vegetation including verdant fruit trees and exotic tropical flowers. Out-of-bounds stakes and strategically placed bunkers spread throughout require precision and strategy. Small, sloped greens and a topography that plays mostly uphill provide additional challenge. More than just a difficult golf course, golfers can also enjoy panoramic ocean and mountain vistas. The Sandals Golf & Country Club also offers practice facilities including a putting green and driving range.

- Rather nice course, considering greens fees and transportation was included from Sandals Ocho Rios resort. Looking at other courses from the bus coming from the airport it looks like this course is in pretty good shape.
6300 yards from the men's tees. Hilly but very easily walked. I walked three days with a caddy (required). You can also get a cart but caddy is still required. Walk, it's much better.
The course is rather well maintained, tees, fairways and greens are in pretty good shape. It is a challenging course with small greens but not a lot of trouble. I played 3 rounds and only lost 1 ball.
With a caddy and paired as a twosome we easily played the course in under 4 hours. The bus leaves from the resort at 8 am and there is a pickup to return at 12:20. Plenty of time for these buses. Eat breakfast at 7:30, go golf, you are back at the resort in time for a late lunch.
very nice club house. rental clubs were brand new. Nice resort course. My first time having a caddie ( and i have played all over the world including st Andrews) her name was blossum, one of only a few female caddies on the island. She was great, everyone is so freindly. Find fredrick the bartender and make a bet onyour score, youwin he buys you a redstripe, you lose you buy! he called a 92 for me and i shot an 86, thanks for the beer freddy!!Just returned after 7 days of golf. The course is challenging and in very good shape. Somewhat hilly but very walkable, Greens are on the small side and and not always receptive to holding your approach, Sand traps are hard sand and sometimes better off putting out of. Greens are very tricky with lots of breaks you don't always see. Trust your caddie. They are great. I would highly recommend Ortigo, one of the best caddies I've had anywhere.
First time having the benefit of a caddy - I say benefit as Philip was most helpful at building my confidence with irons.
If you stay at Sandals Ochos Rios, the green fees are included. It is the only local option for golf, but I would be back again and not hesitate playing if a few times.
